Zombie Honeymoon gave me nightmares and made me wake up screaming." --Ken Russell, director of Altered States, Tommy, The Devils,
Only six days from the New York theatrical release, and we're doing everything we can to ensure that every corner you turn--there we are! This past weekend we had a strong presence at the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors convention in Secaucus, New Jersey. Each day we unleashed a legion of zombies that trawled the premises, passing out flyers and collecting email addresses. John Landis, also a guest at the convention, was kind enough to continue promoting the sh*t out of Zombie Honeymoon, imploring the Fango constituency to catch it. This Tuesday, October 4th, look for Zombie Honeymoon reviews in the New York Times (www.nytimes.com), the Village Voice (www.villagevoice.com), www.nypress.com, www.nymetro.com, www.theImagazine.com, and www.theonion.com. Later in the week, look for reviews in Time Out NY, The Metro, and The Onion. There will probably be reviews in other New York papers as well. By no later than early November, Roger Ebert is arranging to have a personal screening of the film. In the meantime, check out our newest review at www.atrocitiescinema.com/DVD/zombiehoneymoon.html. And pick up the newest issue of Fangoria (#247) for in-depth coverage of the film. It was awarded the only Fango Seal of Approval in the entire issue! In other news, we have secured another theater for our theatrical run--the Old Town Theater in Alexandria, Virginia. We are still working out the dates right now, and we'll have them for you soon. That makes us a go in New York, San Francisco, and Alexandria, Virginia at the moment, and working on other cities as we speak. In addition to our theatrical run, we have also been selected to play a number of upcoming festivals. First up is the Exofest in Canada on September 28th (tonight!), then the Sitges Film Festival in Spain on October 14th (Larry Meistrich and I will be attending), the Leeds Int'l Film Festival (Oct. 10-20) in the UK, and Asheville Film Festival in North Carolina during the last weekend in October, and the Festival de Cine Independiente de Mar del Plata in Argentina in late November. As if that wasn't enough, Showtime is almost done with their consumer box art for the DVD. there's going to be a monstrous amount of DVD extras on that bad boy--director's commentary, actor's commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette, a gag reel, audition tapes, "Zombie Honeymoon" excerpts from Christopher Garetano's feature-length doc "Horror Business", three deleted scenes with or without commentary, trailers, pictures, and posters.
One last time, I'm going to urge everyone to please pass our New York screening flyer around so we can achieve oneness with boffo box-office success. The link to check out the flyer is http://www.zombiehoneymoon.com/pdf/zh_new_york_flyer.pdf. Grab it and pass the living hell out of it--go ahead, do it!
